Information, not medical advice

Everything on this site is general information. The Soheir Elmansy Foundation is not a hospital, a clinic or a healthcare provider. Using this site, or writing to us, does not create a doctor and patient relationship with anyone.

We cannot examine your relative, see their tests or know the details of their condition. Only the team treating them can do that.

In an emergency

In an emergency in Egypt, call 123 for an ambulance or go to the nearest emergency department straight away.

We are not an emergency service. We are a small group of volunteers, and it may take us several days to reply to a message. Please never wait for our answer when someone needs urgent care.

Talk to the treating team

The doctors and nurses caring for your relative know their situation best. Please always discuss what you read here with them before making any decision about care or treatment.

Do not stop, start or change any treatment because of something you read on this site.

About our tools and glossary

The ICU glossary, the questions for the care team and the second-opinion file are general and simplified. They are written to help you understand what you hear and to organise your questions.

They do not cover every situation, and the way a term is used can differ between hospitals and doctors. If something is unclear, ask the treating team to explain it in their own words.

Introductions to specialists

On request, the founders may try to introduce your family to a specialist for a second opinion. We do this voluntarily, on a best-effort basis, and we cannot promise that an introduction will be possible.

The doctors we may connect families with are independent volunteers. They do not work for the foundation, and each of them is responsible for their own advice. Any fees are agreed directly between your family and the specialist.

The foundation never takes a fee, commission or referral payment of any kind, from families or from doctors.

Automated and AI answers

In the future, we may offer AI assistants or other automated tools that answer questions. None are live yet. If we offer them:

  • Automated answers will always be clearly labelled as automated.
  • They will be general information only, not a diagnosis and not a recommendation for any treatment.
  • They can be wrong. Please check anything important with the treating team.
  • They must never delay calling 123 or speaking to the treating team.

Research information

Our pages about colon cancer, peritoneal metastasis and the research fund are general background. They are not a recommendation for any treatment, clinical trial, hospital or doctor. Whether a treatment or trial is right for someone is a decision for them and their doctors.

No guarantees

We try to keep our information accurate and up to date, but medicine changes and every patient is different. We cannot guarantee that the information is complete or right for your situation, and we cannot guarantee any outcome from a second opinion or an introduction.

If you notice a mistake

If you are a clinician, or anyone who notices something wrong or out of date on this site, please tell us at . We will check it and correct it.
