Funding and status

The foundation is in formation. It has not yet been incorporated or recognised as tax-exempt. Until it is, this website is run by its founders.

When the foundation is established, this page will be updated with its legal name, registration details and registered address.

The foundation will be a private non-operating foundation. In practice this means:

• Its money comes from Soheir’s family, not from the public.
• It mainly gives grants to researchers, hospitals and other charities, rather than raising money itself.
• It will publish the annual financial filings that apply to private foundations.

The foundation does not accept donations of any kind, and it will not ask for them in the future. We never charge families for information, tools or introductions.

If anyone asks you for money in the foundation’s name, it is not us. Please tell us at hello@soheirelmansyfoundation.org.

If you want to give in Soheir’s memory, we list registered charities working on colorectal cancer, peritoneal disease and cancer care in Egypt at Give in her memory.

We are not connected to these charities and receive nothing from them. Listing a charity is not an endorsement of everything it does. Please check a charity’s registration before you give.

• Research grants will be awarded through open calls published on this website.
• Proposals will be reviewed by independent scientists and doctors under conflict-of-interest rules.
• No grants, payments or benefits will go to members of the founding family, the board, or businesses they control.
• Grants will be made only for charitable purposes, and grantees will report on how the money was used.

Once the foundation is established, we will publish a short annual report covering the grants made, what they funded and what we spent, alongside the required financial filings.

We will update this page when the foundation is established and whenever its status changes. The date at the top shows the last update.
